Roaming the Region

I’d like to take this opportunity to personally invite you to the Region 3 Leadership Development Workshop (LDW) to be held in Columbus, Ohio on February 27 - 28, 2004.  This is an excellent opportunity to meet with the movers and shakers of your and other Mensa groups in our region and to receive information and training that could help improve your Mensa involvement.

Not only will this LDW be beneficial to current officers and coordinators of our group, but it would also help other members who will eventually become our future leaders.  The current schedule is dual-tracked and has something for everybody.  Presentations will be in the following areas:

We also have a special track scheduled for Saturday afternoon on Food Safety.  This is a 4-hour course concerning the cooking of quantities of food for groups, including the problems that lead to food-borne illness and how they can be prevented.  It will be presented by a licensed sanitarian from the City of Columbus Health Department.  This course will benefit everyone who chairs or helps out in Hospitality at Regional Gatherings or group parties. 

Additionally, we are having a Mensa testing session Saturday afternoon.  Any Proctors who need to meet monitoring requirements are more than welcome to sit in, and if you know of any potential members interested in taking the test, bring them along. 

We will have soup, sandwiches, and socialization on Friday night, and the dual-track presentations will be all day Saturday following a continental breakfast; we will break for lunch (provided).  We will finish up Saturday evening with a local Games Night, so feel free to stick around after the official LDW for some fun and games.  This will be your chance to also beat me at my own game – Double Deck Cancellation Hearts.  (more information)  I look forward to seeing/meeting you there.  If you’re driving, bring some friends, share a room, and cut your costs even more.
