What is an RG, anyway?

If you’ve never been to an RG, you might be wonderings what this whole “Regional Gathering” thing is.  An RG (Regional Gathering) lasts from late Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.  It’s a weekend long game playing session.  It’s a weekend-long series of programs—programs that run the gamut from scintillating to educating.  It’s a weekend long feast.  It’s all of those, and it’s something more besides—it’s a collection of Mensans talking, laughing, listening, learning, playing.

Mensans play games, and there will be tournaments, open play, and time to learn how to play.  The tournaments vary by RG; every local group has their own spin on things.  Look for another Scrabble player, find someone to play backgammon with, or do a jigsaw puzzle.  Play in the Euchre tournament (or just find a pick-up game in the Games Room), learn to play Rail Games, or take yourself to the pool and relax in the hot tub (if the hotel happens to have one).

In between all of these events (and before them) (and after them) (and during them), there will be food—meals at meal times, snacks all the rest of the time.  (You need energy in order to relax, right?)  There's always lots of food at a Gathering.

Come out and join the other Ms; newcomers are always welcome!
